Art Smith

Ispirati dal surrealismo, biomorfismo e arte primitiva, i gioielli di Arthur Smith sono dinamici nella forma e nella dimensione. Anche se talvolta "fuori scala"i suoi pezzi risultano aerei e portabilissimi.

Nel 1969, per una personale delle sue opere scrisse:

"UN pezzo di gioielleria è un oggetto incompleto. Gioiello è un "cos'è?" fino a quando non si relaziona con un corpo. Il corpo è una componente del design quanto lo spazio e l'aria. 

Come le linee, le forme e i color, il corpo è un materiale con cui lavorare. Una delle ispirazioni principali nel creare una forma".

Inspired by surrealism, biomorphicism, and primitivism, Art Smith’s jewelry is dynamic in its size and form. Although sometimes massive in scale, his jewelry remains lightweight and wearable. 

He Wrote in 1969 for an exibition of his works: 

“A piece of jewelry is in a sense an object that is not complete in itself. Jewelry is a ‘what is it?’ until you relate it to the body. The body is a component in design just as air and space are.  Like line, form, and color, the body is a material to work with.  It is one of the basic inspirations in creating form.”
